Idukki Wildlife Sanctuary, Idukki

A land-locked district, Idukki is one of the most nature-rich areas. The wildlife sanctuary spreads over 77 sq km in Thodupuzha and Udumpanchola taluks. Situated at an altitude of 450-748 m, it occupies the forest land between the Cheruthoni and Periyar rivers. Birds here include jungle fowl,myna, laughing thrush, black bulbul, peafowl, woodpecker and kingfisher.
